。今天的更新不会改变您的链接总数，但希望能够以一种更贴近您想法的方式来呈现反向链接，表明哪些链接是来自您的网站内部的，哪些是来自其他网站的。
您可以在网站管理员工具中管理许多不同类型的网站，比如普通的域名（example.com）、子域名（www.example.com或 cats.example.com），或带有子文件夹路径的域名 www.example.com/cats/ or www.example.com/users/catlover/）。以前，只有以您的网站的确切URL开头的链接才会被被归类为内部链接：所以如果您输入www.example.com/users/catlover/ 作为您的网站，那么，来自 www.example.com/users/catlover/profile.html 的链接将被归类为内部链接，但来自 www.example.com/users/ 或 www.example.com 的链接则会被归类为外部链接。这也意味着，如果您输入 www.example.com 作为您的网站，那么，来自example.com的链接将被视为外部链接，因为它们没有使用您的网站URL开头（它们不包含www）。
如今，大多数人都认为 example.com 和 www.example.com 是同一个网站，所以我们也相应作出了改变，现在，不管您添加 example.com还是 www.exmple.com 作为一个网站，来自www和非www版本域名的链接都将被归类为内部链接。我们还扩充了这个想法的范畴，纳入了其他的子域名，因为很多拥有某域名的人同时也拥有其子域名 —— 所以来自 cats.example.com 或 pets.example.com 的链接也将被归类为www.example.com 的内部链接。
如果您拥有子域名的网站（
googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com
）或一个子文件夹（
www.google.com/support/webmasters/
），但并不拥有自己的主域名，那么，在您的内部链接清单中，您还是只能看到以该子域名或子文件夹作为开头的URL链接，所有其他的链接则将被归类为外部链接。我们已经做了一些后台变化，以便让这些数字对您来说更精确。
请注意，如果您拥有自己的主域名，比如 example.com 或 www.example.com，那么，随着这一变化，您的外部链接数量可能会看起来有所下降，这是因为，正如上文所述，一些此前被我们列为外部链接的URL将会被迁移到内部链接报告中。您的链接（内部+外部）总数并不会受到该变化的影响。
